Great Orme Tramway
The scenic Great Orme Tramway opened on July 31st 1902 and travels from the seaside resort of Llandudno to the top of the Great Orme. This is the only cable-hauled tramway still operating on British public roads.
From the top of the Great Orme (679ft - 207m) there are excellent views of Snowdonia, and on a clear day you can see all the way to the Isle of Man, Blackpool, and the fells of the Lake District. There are Bronze Age copper mines and the 6th Century St Tudno's Church to be explored on the Orme.
This attraction can be easily visited whilst staying in the Conwy Valley, and is 17 miles (26 km) from Betws-y-Coed as the crow flies (straight line distance). See the routeplanner below for a suggested route and estimated journey time.
