Criccieth Castle
The castle was built in the early 13th century by Llywelyn ap Iorwerth (Llywelyn the Great) and then extended by Llywelyn ap Gruffudd (Llywelyn the Last). It was captured by the English in 1283 and remodelled. In the early 15th century the castle was captured and badly damaged by Owain Glyndwr during a Welsh uprising. The castle is perched on a crag in the town of Criccieth.
