Castell y Bere | Abergynolwyn

Castell y Bere was built by Llywelyn ab Iorwerth (Llewelyn the Great) around 1221 and sits in an elevated position above the Dysynni Valley near Tywyn. The castle is now largly a ruin and was originally built to protect the mountain trade routes between the various Welsh kingdoms, but was later used by the Welsh and English during the invasion by Edward I. The castle is managed by CADW.

This attraction can be easily visited whilst staying in the Conwy Valley, and is 31 miles (49 km) from Betws-y-Coed as the crow flies (straight line distance). See the routeplanner below for a suggested route and estimated journey time.
